The Víctor Fernández Gopar "El Salinero" Theater will host the premiere of 'César, battle and fire', a show created by Lanzarote actor Pedro Ayose based on articles and texts written by César Manrique, on Friday, February 14. The play is inspired by interviews, participation in documentaries and personal writings of the artist, ecological, political and social speeches "that at that time nobody dared to pronounce but him".
Actors of different genders will get into the skin of the creator so that his voice resonates from different perspectives, highlighting the importance of the speech, of the idea, "highlighting that said speech is part of everyone and reaches different generations", according to Ayose himself.
The staging avoids the monologue to give dynamism to the character, pursuing authenticity. As the poet Luis Rosales said, "so earthly, so agile, so radiant that, when you look at him, he grows. He communicates with his hands, looks with his whole face, speaks with his whole body, lives everywhere. That's how he is. He loves, convinces, paints, winks and clarifies everything. In reality, César Manrique is not just a man, he is a waste".
Pedro Ayose and José Martret lead the artistic team
The play is directed by José Martret, a prestigious Spanish theater director. In Madrid he created La Casa de la Portera and La Pensión de las Pulgas, spaces dedicated to theater, both references of the Madrid scene. He directed a version of Macbeth by W. Shakespeare, MBIG, obtaining three nominations for the Max Awards and two nominations for the Actors Union Awards.

The idea and dramaturgy of 'César, battle and fire' is by Pedro Ayose, a Lanzarote actor and theater director based in Madrid. As an actor he has participated in 'Hijos de Shakespeare', directed by Juan Carlos Corazza and stars in the monologue Manning. He has devised, created and directed '¿Qué sabes tú de mis tristezas?', a show based on a text by Roy Galán, and the play 'Píldoras Rosadas', which also premiered in Lanzarote and in which the actress Ana Rujas intervened.
Pedro Ayose himself is one of the leading actors in 'César, battle and fire', and along with him on stage will be the actress Dariam Coco, the actress and singer Mónica Dorta and the actor and dancer, Roberto G. Alonso.
The audiovisual image is by Other Lands; the costumes by Raquel Melián; the music by Jaisiel; the makeup and hairdressing by Kley Kafé and Patrizzio Niccolai; the set design by Teresa Díe; and the lighting design by Shelma Zebenzuí.
