The San Bartolomé City Council celebrates the success of the 17th edition of the Theater Cultural Week, which concluded this Saturday, April 12, with a total attendance that exceeded 3,700 people throughout its nine performances.

This edition has consolidated the municipality as a cultural reference in Lanzarote and the entire Canary Islands within the framework of the performing arts, with a diverse and high-quality program that has been enthusiastically received by the public.

The closing ceremony was carried out by the Regañiza Company, which staged Proyecto Fausto, an emotional proposal based on real events about the disappearance of the fishing boat El Fausto in 1968. With dramaturgy by the author from La Palma, Antonio Tabares, and direction by Germán Barrios, the work offered a profound reflection on maritime historical memory and the mystery surrounding this event, marking the closing of the program with a moving staging.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted “the great level of this edition, which has achieved a real connection with the public, making visible the scenic talent of our environment and demonstrating that San Bartolomé is strongly committed to culture.”

The expectations of this annual event have been exceeded, as demonstrated by the attendance at each theatrical event, including those held during the week.

In this sense, the Councilor for Culture, Carmen Medina, pointed out that “the very high quality of the participating companies has been key to the success of this edition. We have enjoyed a program with very varied proposals that have reached audiences of all ages.”

The performances of the Theater Cultural Week were carried out by the companies Faranduleando Teatro, Julaga, Comi-K, Teatreros y Comediantes, Óscar Bacallado, Grupo de Teatro Ajei, Compañía Regañiza, SomoS Teatro and the Compañía Teatral Chespir, who covered from comedy to drama, promoting the meeting between local scenic creation and the public of the municipality.

The San Bartolomé City Council appreciates the involvement of all cultural groups, theater professionals, and residents who, once again, have supported with their presence a cultural program designed to enjoy, reflect, and share.
