As tradition dictates in La Villa de Teguise, the grand finale of the festivities in honor of its patron saint, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, has been performed for many years by the actresses and actors of the Esperanza Spínola Theater Group. This year they chose the play The Invented Marriages, a comedy where intrigue, executed with intelligence and cunning by two friends, sparks interest and creates some tension.
The play tells the story of two married friends who decide to start extramarital affairs with two old friends. Their plans backfire when their own wives discover what their husbands were plotting. Then, they also decide to invent their own adventure, turning their husbands' play into a real boomerang story, which bounces back as a gentle but very effective reprimand.
During the staging, the audience was very expectant so as not to miss the slightest detail, where there were moments for suspense but above all a lot of humor, so necessary in these times.
The play featured the participation of the actresses: Carmen Ramón Villalba, Miriam Hernández Perdomo and the actors; Jesús Carmelo Hernández Rijo, Jesús Clemente González Barrera, Andrés Castillo Bonilla and Francisco Hernández Delgado. In addition, as artistic director, Fermín García Pérez, and as sound and props technician, Norberto de León Luzardo, whom the audience rewarded with their applause.
Last year 2024 marked 65 years that Francisco Hernández Delgado has been on stage with the Esperanza Spínola company, his first sketch being "Los Ateos", by the Álvarez Quintero brothers, staged in 1959, his theatrical career has been recognized in the city of La Laguna, Tenerife and in the municipality of Tías, Lanzarote. In 1977 he was appointed president of the Teguise Theater Group.
