To mark Holy Week, the Musical Union of Lanzarote Band, led by Professor Pepe Artiles, offered the Sacred Music Concert on Monday night. The event took place in the Main Church of San Ginés Obispo in Arrecife.
This concert, organised by the Department of Culture of Arrecife Town Council, was supported by the Parish of San Ginés.
The audience was able to enjoy the extensive repertoire with selected works such as; La Madrugada, Nuestro Padre Jesús, Paz Eterna, Cristo en la Alcazaba, among others. These works belong to great composers such as Abel Moreno, Emilio Cebrián, María Teresa Teixidor and Fulgencio Morón.
The director put the finishing touch to the concert with the composition by Joan Manuel Serrat, La Saeta, taken from the poem by Antonio Machado, a work that was masterfully performed by the soprano Sheila Rizo.
The Musical Union of Lanzarote Band is made up of a total of 40 members, women and men, who rehearsed for two hours a week for two months and more than achieved the set objective, a work that was rewarded by the applause of the audience.
At the end of the concert, Juan Carlos Medina, parish priest of San Ginés, shared with the members, soprano and director and congratulated them on the magnificent concert carried out. The performance ended by pleasing the public with the encore of La Saeta.
