The Tourist Centers and the Mararía Social and Cultural Association have joined forces to launch the IV edition of the Elisa Betancort Delgado painting contest.
The contest, which evokes and recognizes a woman "firmly committed to her island, art, and the defense of women's rights," seeks to create "spaces for dialogue that allow transmitting the values necessary to build a more equitable, just, and inclusive society."
The Elisa Betancort Delgado painting contest aims to "encourage emerging artists" who find in art "a form of expression" from which to address "complex issues for communities" and, at the same time, "face changes in discourses and ways of acting."
The Islote de Fermina will be the place from which the jury's decision will be announced on September 9. That day, a selection of the works that have been submitted to the contest will also be inaugurated. Artists can submit their works until August 31.
This contest is one of the projects included in the one million euro item contemplated in the budgets of the Tourist Centers to boost the cultural fabric of Lanzarote.
