The Los Dolores festivities conclude with a weekend of procession and crafts

Several authorities from the Government of the Canary Islands and Lanzarote attended the various activities that took place during the festivities.

The Los Dolores festivities have concluded this weekend in Tinajo, after beginning their celebration on August 28th and the last day this Friday with the Juanes concert, as an exceptional culmination to these patron saint festivities in an atmosphere full of energy and enthusiasm in Mancha Blanca. Last Friday, Tinajo hosted the procession, mass, and Lanzarote Craft Fair.

At the mass and procession held on Friday, September 15th, which was attended by authorities from the Government of the Canary Islands and politicians from the island, was presided over by the Bishop of the Canary Islands and many other priests, highlighting the debut of priest Alejandro Carmona, one of the few who spoke during the Eucharist. In addition, the procession was enlivened by the music band with a tour of the square and its surroundings.

At the head of the liturgy was Monsignor José Mazuelos Pérez, Bishop of the Diocese. Alongside him were other religious authorities from the Archipelago and the priests who cover their evangelizing function in the seven municipalities of Lanzarote.

The Lanzarote Craft Fair

The 34th edition of the Lanzarote Craft Fair, held as part of the Los Dolores 2023 festivities, culminated extraordinarily, both in terms of organization and public attendance, receiving more than 60,000 people between September 8th and 15th.

In addition, according to some attendees informed to La Voz, during the fair, the four main authorities toured the stands, a visit and the presentation to the 'Best Decorated Stand'. "The President of the Government of the Canary Islands bought a shirt from La Graciosa and some other things," they highlight.

The authorities who attended the fair were the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, the President of Parliament, Astrid Pérez, the Minister of Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín, Oswaldo Betancort, the Mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, among many other politicians from the island. "The authorities present were greeting and talking to the people, and they also tasted gofio and wine," they point out.

In addition, from those authorities on behalf of the entire Corporation, Oswaldo Betancort wanted to highlight the excellent institutional collaboration between the Cabildo and the City Council of Tinajo, which was "essential" for the organization and success of all the acts carried out. "The union of efforts between both institutions allowed us to develop an event that has enriched the cultural and tourist offer of our island," said Betancort.

Likewise, President Betancort took the opportunity to express his "deep gratitude" to all the Security Forces and Corps that contributed to the optimal development of the planned program. "The deployment and dedication of the security personnel and the teams involved have been fundamental to ensure that the events were carried out in an ideal and safe manner at all times, so we appreciate their valuable work," he added.

For his part, the Minister of Culture, Jesús Machín Tavío, underlined "the extraordinary reception of the Juanes concert, an event that has delighted the entire attending population, further enriching our island's patron saint festivities and consolidating them in the calendar of all the people of Lanzarote."
