With the third edition of the Lanzarote Book Fair completed, the organizing association, Isla Literaria, has only had words of enthusiasm and gratitude towards those who, in one way or another, have contributed to its celebration. Because this young meeting with letters continues its ascending curve in public appreciation, commercial results and general satisfaction, a necessary impulse to continue with its paper steps through the island's geography.

The Cabildo de Lanzarote, also as a main collaborator, has been a participant in the excellent results of the Fair, for its economic contribution and through the Publications Service coordinated by Ascensión Toledo, which has presented its four most recent volumes and has exhibited its catalog in its own stand. A support that will be extended from May 30 with the presence, for the first time, of a stand at the Madrid Book Fair to exhibit the island's literary creation.

For Tomás Pérez-Esaú, president of Isla Literaria, the location in the historic center of San Bartolomé, a pedestrian promenade of linked squares, from the Town Hall to Casa Cerdeña, has been a central factor of success: "One of the most repeated congratulations from bookstores, publishers, authors and visitors has been the choice of spaces, not only outdoors but also indoors, as the Theater, Casa Cerdeña and its patios and surrounding rooms have given a special atmosphere of dignity to each presentation and each activity. And the permanent accompaniment of the Councilor for Culture, Carmen Medina, has been greatly appreciated."

The poster of this edition has confirmed with full capacity its excellence and its ambition to satisfy all reading palates, with international signatures, such as Juan Gabriel Vásquez; from the national sphere, such as the triple Carmen Mola, the unspeakable Nieves Coscostrina -twice, in book presentation and with her show Borbonia-, the very popular queen of unicorns, Ana Punset, or the travel writer, Isabel Soler; and of course, with a firm commitment to local letters, with the very new Kike Pérez at the head, who turned the opening day of the fair into an event for his legion of followers.

Solidity and attractiveness

The opinion of professionals in the book ecosystem present at the Fair is coincident: the annual Lanzarote event gains in solidity and attractiveness every year. The writer of Children's and Youth, Ana Belén Hormiga, highlights that she always leaves Lanzarote with the best taste in her mouth: "The human team of the organization is incredible, it is a very special fair for those of us who come from outside." This is corroborated by Verónica García Melgar, editor of Bilenio, for whom "since 2010 that I have been in fairs, this is, by far, the best organized of all I have experienced."

Alexis de La Cruz, from the La Madriguera bookstore, and Alba Cantón, from Itineraria publishing house, agree in highlighting that Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning exceeded all forecasts of public and sales, while Víctor Bello, twice editorial responsible for Caballos Azules and author of the novelty En la orilla del Imperio, took the lead, with about fifty copies of his catalog, sold on the opening afternoon. These are just a few examples of the undoubted good health of the reading community in Lanzarote.

Also the publishing labels Penguin and Planeta, whose representatives came to Lanzarote together with Juan Gabriel Vásquez and Carmen Mola, communicated their enthusiasm for the organization and the program of the Lanzarote fair and their interest in repeating in future editions with presentations of their novelties.

The Fair on social networks

Another key piece that sustains the effectiveness and excellence of this meeting is the contribution of great communicators, experts and teachers in the book presentations. On this occasion, Mare Cabrera, Adriana Sandec, Paco Robayna, María José Alonso, Obe Rosa, José Ramón Betancort, Saúl García, Pedro Cabrera, Ascensión Robayna, Fabio Carreiro, Yolanda Ruano, Mar Arias, Mario Ferrer, Javi Rodríguez, Juli Mesa, Flor Espino, Quino Miguélez, Myriam Ybot, Jaime Puig and Nacho Romero gave their time and wisdom.

The journalist from Ser Canarias and Ondas Award winner, Javi Rodríguez, a regular at the Fair, described it on his networks as an "unforgettable experience with personality and its own light." It is just one of the hundreds of comments, videos and publications that since Thursday have filled social networks, in a multiplying phenomenon of the dissemination of the event inside and outside the island's borders.

The balance of the president of Isla Literaria says it all: "I have not stopped receiving congratulations, the gratitude to Arenao producción has been general and constant, so I am bursting. The bar has been set so high that the next edition will become a new challenge. Each year is different, but as a general assessment I would say that our consolidation is definitive. The Fair was necessary and the administrations have understood it that way; the citizens have responded wonderfully, everyone delighted that we go from town to town, to enjoy the books, the presentations and the shows... And now, to think about the next Fair."

Together with Isla Literaria and the Culture and Publications Service departments of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the contributions of the Culture Council of the San Bartolomé City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, as well as those of companies such as Efímera, Fase, Hercio, Sican, Lumar, Relaxia, Cicar, Chacon, Cerelan, Ludieduca, Orlando Callero, Ikea and Arenao producción and the team of communication professionals of the Fair have been essential for this success.
