The flames of the San Juan bonfires illuminated the town of Haría on the "most magical night of the year" last Thursday.

Between fireworks, "fire" dances and the traditional burning of Facundo, the event kicked off one of the most anticipated summers. After two years of pandemic, this year the people of Lanzarote were finally able to enjoy the party with their loved ones without having to worry about restrictions and crowds.

Attendees of the burning also enjoyed the musical performance by Elieser and the humor of Daniel Moisés and Kike Pérez in the town square. And for those intending to extend the shortest night of the year as much as possible, the group Los Conejeros and the Rikabanda orchestra enlivened the evening at the traditional popular festival.

Bonfires spread throughout the island

Hundreds of bonfires were raised in different parts of the island, from south to north and from east to west. Many Lanzarote residents decided to enjoy this holiday from their towns, organizing barbecues, dances and songs in the light of the flames accompanied by friends and family.

Specifically, the burnings of Playa Honda and the one on Reducto beach in Arrecife were among the largest, bringing together a multitude of people who wanted to come and enjoy the fire from the beach.

Others even decided not to tempt fate and dared to take their first swim of the summer in it, a tradition that held that if you bathed in the sea before that date "it was bad".
