The 'Crea Joven 2023' Contest of San Bartolomé has awarded three young people at the awards ceremony at the Farmer's Monument this Thursday. A fifteenth edition, which had the theme of gender violence under the collage technique.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, together with the Councilor for Youth and Equality, Mónica de León, presented the first prize of 1,000 euros to Lara Barrerio Lettieri with the work 'Who are you?'. The second place, with a prize of 500 euros, was in the hands of Natalia Camacho González with the work entitled 'Closing Circles'. Finally, the 300 euros of the third prize of the contest, went to Victoria Parrilla Fernández, author of the work 'Tie me home'.

Isidro Pérez, highlighted in the act "the growth of the event in recent years, an unavoidable reference for the artistic young talent of the islands that demonstrates, this edition, its critical capacity towards one of the scourges of our society: gender violence. The 'Crea Joven' contest seeks, exactly, to "demolish" some of the "barriers that prevent the dreams of the new generations of artists from coming true." "We intend it to serve as a space from which to support these beginnings and promote their works," he added.

"Congratulations to the authors and to all the participants who have put their creativity and passion at the forefront of this contest. Congratulations," concluded the mayor.

For her part, the councilor Mónica de León, valued "the great expressiveness of the works presented, fully identified with the theme of the contest, gender violence and, in addition, acquires even greater relevance in these dates so close to 25N, 'International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women'. Also thanking the jury, Cristina Temprano, Diana Pérez, Nira Cabrera, Oswaldo Machín, and Marianna Amorín, for their "implication and commitment" with this edition of 'Crea Joven'.
