The Los Cumbacheros de Tahíche troupe presented the fantasy for this year called 'Aqua, from the depths of the Atlantic', by the Tenerife designer Borja Abreu. The event was held last Saturday night at the Santo Domingo convent in La Villa de Teguise with full capacity.
The gala was directed by Sergio Niz and presented by Carmen Nieves, who achieved all the objectives set, where the plasticity of the participating groups, the rhythm and color infected the attending public, rewarding each of the moments with resounding applause.
The Teguise carnival this year is dedicated to the world of television, honoring it, the gala began with the performance of a ballet with elegant vedettes transporting directly to the golden age of television with their choreographies. Another of the characters who was always linked to the carnival was the one dedicated to the unforgettable and ambassador of salsa, the Cuban Celia Cruz, this time emulated by the young Sara Bermúdez who with her 'Caramelo a Kilo', a display of voice and rhythm with Latin airs that drew applause from the public, thus rewarding her performance.
Later, the performance of the troupe 'Los Cariocas' took place, located in the Valleseco neighborhood in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This group was created in the year 1969 and over the years it has become one of the most awarded troupes of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Under the presidency of José Manuel González, Los Cariocas filled the stage of the Convent with color and rhythm, where professionalism and good taste captivated the attending public.
Next, it was the turn of the murga 'Los Simplones', who came from the seaside neighborhood of Valterra and who this year are celebrating their 20th anniversary. It has 62 members directed in the musical part by Enrique Martín and under the presidency of Mencey Curbelo, a reference in the carnival of Lanzarote in which they have obtained some awards for their good work and dedication. Without forgetting the festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen where every year they offer their offering to the Patron Saint of sailors with a heartfelt and emotional song. Los Cumbacheros this year have distinguished him with their highest award, the 'Silver Mask'.
Thus came the most awaited moment of the night, to know the best kept secret, the fantasy chosen for this 2025 edition, where once again the direction of Los Cumbacheros placed its trust in the Tenerife designer Borja Abreu who once again dazzled the present public with his spectacular design called 'Aquua, from the depths of the Atlantic', The Los Cumbacheros de Tahíche troupe was founded in 2012 and this year has a total of 61 members distributed between the dance corps and the batucada. It is presided over and directed by Sergio Niz Callero and the musical direction is in charge of Gesury García.
One more year Los Cumbacheros in their presentation offered a show where imagination, color, rhythm and fantasy filled the stage of the Santo Domingo de Teguise convent with their good work, where a delivered and standing public applauded, rewarding their magnificent work of a night that will go down in the history of the Teguise carnival.
