The meeting "Menudos Timplistas" closed the program of the Casa-Museo del Timple corresponding to the current year. The event took place at the Santo Domingo Convent on Sunday morning and included the participation of four schools from Lanzarote and one guest from Gran Canaria.
Lanzarote had the schools of Gabriel Cubas, Toñín Corujo and the collaboration of his brother Domingo, José Vicente Pérez from the municipal school of Tías, Alexis Lemes from the school of Teguise and Derque Martín from the Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands for Gran Canaria. In total, 30 students participated, aged between 7 and 14 years old.
"Menudos Timplistas" is an event that is filled by the relatives who come to support the future timplistas, some of them go on stage for the first time and they are very excited to hear the applause that they receive once their performance is finished. The event was presided over by the mayor of the Teguise City Council, Oswaldo Betancort, the vice president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Marcos Bergaz, the Councilor for Culture, Nori Machín, the Commissioner of the Casa-Museo, Benito Cabrera, the Culture technician, Chani de la Hoz, councilors of the Corporation and Culture staff.
In this edition, the luthier residing in Tahíche, Alberto Ortega Chirino, donated a timple (unique piece) in order to be raffled among the participating schools, with "The Professional Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands" being awarded. Before the end of the event, the teachers were given the poster announcing the concert and for each and every one of the students chocolates to sweeten these holidays.
"Menudos Timplistas" is an initiative of the Casa-Museo del Timple that has been consolidating over the years, as a sample of what this whole panorama gives of itself. In each edition, the good level that the students are acquiring surprises more and more, guided by increasingly experienced teachers.
