The San Bartolomé City Council has raised the sum of 1,820 euros in the solidarity concert "Together for La Palma", in collaboration with Bohemia Lanzarote. From the Consistory they point out that the objective was “to collaborate with all the neighborhood that is experiencing the devastating effects of the Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption”. The Councilor for Festivities, Isidro Pérez, was in charge of collecting the check for 1,820 euros raised for La Palma and thanked “the contributions and presence on this stage of Bohemia Lanzarote, and of all the people who have made this concert possible by contributing their grain of sand”.
The concert was broadcast in streaming on local televisions on the islands of La Palma, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, the mayor thanking, “each and every one of the people who have made it possible for this cultural initiative to see the light in record time and to those who took to the stage and gave the best of their voices and music, as well as to all the technicians who have been aware of the event. Thank you very much, we are all together for La Palma, and proof of this is this concert, highly applauded by the audience and which closed with the stalls standing!”, exclaimed Alexis Tejera.
Bohemia Lanzarote, which has 14 members, including voices and musicians directed by Juanma Padrón, began the concert giving voice to everyone, “insisting that getting on a stage for this cause is a great honor for all of us who are on this side of the stage”. “These great musicians and voices gave their best for a cause that has united all the Canary Islands in a single feeling”, adds the mayor, Alexis Tejera, who also “greatly appreciates the collaboration of all the citizens who have made their donations in the La Caixa account enabled for this purpose and to those people who enjoyed the concert in person”.
The group offered a varied repertoire for the occasion, with themes that surprised the public with their great emotion “having La Palma as the center and total presence throughout the act”, highlighting the “Isla mía” and “Las malagueñas del agua”, with folklore, South American music, ballads, pop, Cuban music, etc. The City Council greatly thanked Bohemia Lanzarote “for its enormous solidarity and great willingness to this cause, congratulating them in passing, for the achievements they are reaping in the few years of experience that the group has, but which shows in each performance its professionalism and experience on stage”.
The mayor, opened the act, “with words of encouragement and gratitude”, emphasizing “that it is very important that culture, which suffered so much in the pandemic, is the one that unites with this solidarity gesture”. Numerous personalities from Canarian music and culture such as Cristina Ramos, Jorge de León, José Manuel Ramos, Matías Alonso and from the world of entertainment and humor such as Omayra Cazorla also joined through video. The City Council had the collaboration of Hercio, Hi Vision, Kofhi, and Atelcan (Association of Local TV of the Canary Islands).
The San Bartolomé City Council also recalls that last week “granted a subsidy of 100,000 euros to the Cabildo de La Palma to help alleviate the effects derived from the catastrophe, meet the basic subsistence needs of the population, the recovery of essential public services and infrastructures or anything in which we can help for the reconstruction of the island from this consistory”
