The Cactus Garden will host the 'Heritage 1919' Fashion Show this coming Saturday, September 23, starting at 6:30 p.m., coinciding with the festivity of Our Lady of Mercy, patron saint of the bodies of officials of Penitentiary Institutions.

An event that commemorates the birth of César Manrique, it is a "parade of clothing and emotions" that will give visibility to the "effort and creative talent" of the participants in Retopía, a multidisciplinary reintegration project supported by the Tourist Centers that has sought to "re-educate from art" the inmates of the Tahíche Penitentiary Center, and "break down barriers and social labels to build second life opportunities."

More than thirty models will parade along the improvised catwalk of the old rofera transformed by César Manrique, among whom will be their own designers and officials from the Tahíche Penitentiary Center.

During the event you can enjoy a clarinet and violin concert. In addition, a manifesto will be read about a project that "wanted to sow a seed of hope and illusion to offer a new opportunity on the road."

Those interested in attending the 'Heritage 1919 Fashion Show' can pick up their free invitations at the Casa Amarilla, on Calle Real in Arrecife, until 2:00 p.m. this Thursday.

More about Retopía

This project, which has used terms such as Recycle, Transform, Opportunity, Individual, Present and Learning to open a "window to the inner world of the Penitentiary Center through art", began last March with 'The Wall', a workshop that served to "give life to a wall with a painting inspired by the work of Manrique made by the inmates".

Sewing workshops, painting workshops and a photographic exhibition have been other thematic axes on which 'Retopía' has been built.
