Next week comes with high-quality film proposals, as well as up to four literary events, such as the one with Cristina Fernández de Cubas, who, through the Lanzarote Literature Festival, offers a talk on the unusual and disturbing aspects of stories.

In theater, there is the opportunity to attend the play Proyecto Fausto on Friday, and the Zarzuela Gala on Saturday. In addition, three photographic exhibitions will simultaneously premiere at El Almacén this Friday.

  • The Human Hibernation. Cine Buñuel

The Buñuel Cinema at El Almacén presents the film The Human Hibernation, a fable that challenges the imagery of classic science fiction and asks us about the problems of our current relationship with nature.

  • Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. Lanzarote Film Club.

Cine Club Lanzarote celebrates the centenary of the birth of the American director Sam Peckinpah, a visionary filmmaker who defied the narrative and aesthetic conventions of his time.

His cult film *Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia*, one of the most personal and controversial works in his filmography, will be screened.

When: Saturday, October 25th at 8:00 PM.

  • Returning to You. Buñuel Cinema

The Buñuel Cinema at El Almacén presents *Wildland*, by Danish director Jeanette Nordahl, a conscientious domestic melodrama that celebrates love and commitment. The film explores how, in a relationship frozen by routine, the reality of bonds and the need for care can change everything.

LITERATURE

 

  • Book of Poems Presentation. The Moon

Vanessa Díez presents La Luna in Lanzarote, a collection of poems full of intricate landscapes and twists, reflecting the confusion and challenge of confronting the deepest fears and secrets.

  • Cristina Fernández de Cubas. Lanzarote Literature Festival

The Lanzarote Literature Festival 2025 continues with writer Cristina Fernández de Cubas in a conversation about the unusual, the fantastic, and the mastery of the short story as a literary form. The author will talk about the power of the unsettling, of how the strange insinuates itself from the everyday with a precise and evocative prose.

When: Tuesday, October 28th at 7:30 PM.

Where: El Fondeadero Civic Center, Puerto del Carmen.

  • Literary Conversation. Land of Sea

Taking Sergio Erro's book of stories, Tierra del mar, as a reference, the author will hold a conversation with his counterpart, Eduardo Laporte, to discuss the sea and the island of Lanzarote as settings for interesting stories that recreate the past through tales where reality and fiction merge.

When: Tuesday, October 28th at 7:30 PM.

  • Literary meeting

Next Wednesday, October 29, the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture will host a literary meeting with the authors Pepe Betancort, Myriam Ybot, and Alba Cantón.

  • Faust Project

The theater company Regañiza brings to Tías the play Proyecto Fausto, which tells of the disappearance of that ship called Fausto that departed from El Hierro, but never reached La Palma.

  •  Zarzuela Gala

The 2025 edition of the Lanzarote Opera Festival begins with an evening dedicated to zarzuela, featuring a journey through emblematic pieces such as the lyrical sainete La revoltosa (Ruperto Chapí), the duet from La africana (Manuel Fernández Caballero), El barberillo de Lavapiés (Francisco Asenjo Barbieri), and Luisa Fernanda (Federico Moreno Torroba).

The soprano Carmen Mateo, the mezzo-soprano Andrea Niño, and the baritone Manuel Más sing, along with the pianist Ernesto Alemán, in a tribute to the Spanish lyrical genre.

EXHIBITIONS

 

  • Earthly Happiness. Daniel L. Fleitas

Daniel L. Fleitas' exhibition 'Earthly Happiness' is born from the discovery of an abandoned zoo that became a refuge and creative engine for the artist.

Through photography, she reflects the parallel between human fragility and nature's capacity to be reborn, even in ruined spaces.

  • Secret Garden. David GP

El Almacén also hosts the exhibition ‘Secret Garden’, a poetic and critical reading of the territory through photography. The images capture small interventions by anonymous or amateur artists, visible from the public space, inviting us to rethink the everyday landscape from an artistic perspective.

  • The Incurable. Miguel Morales

El Almacén also presents the art installation ‘The Incurable’ by Miguel Morales, which explores the tension between the everyday and the dreamlike through photography. His work delves into the need to cling to normality through the collective.

MUSIC

 

  • Alexander Álvarez. Noon Festival

The Noon Canarias Festival brings classical guitarist Alexander Álvarez to Arrecife this Saturday, where he will perform a concert at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture.

  • Opus 22. Yaiza Sonic Nature

The duo Opus 22, composed of violinist Claudia Guerra Martín and guitarist Daniel León Sánchez, will offer the fourth concert of the Yaiza Naturaleza Sonora cycle, which brings music to natural and emblematic spaces in the southern municipality.
