The best film at the Venice Film Festival, an exhibition on people dedicated to crafts in Lanzarote, an artistic screening on the work of Ildefonso Aguilar are being showcased this week in Lanzarote. 

Additionally, in the performing arts section, there is a play as well as a dance show, performance, theater, and drag art. The Arrecife part of the MOVE Canarias Festival of Movement Arts is also being held in Lanzarote. 

In the musical section, the concerts by Canarias Gospel Choir, Ancor Miranda Quartet, Festival Malpaís de La Corona, the last concert of the Spring Classical Music Festival, Calicanto, and Taburete stand out. 

 

CINEMA 

 

  • Father Mother Sister Brother. Cine Buñuel

Cine Buñuel at El Almacén presents Father Mother Sister Brother, the latest feature film by acclaimed director Jim Jarmusch, one of the most representative figures of independent American cinema. The film, a dramatic comedy, is structured as a triptych of stories centered on the complex universe of family relationships. The film won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the last Venice Film Festival.

When: Thursday, June 18 at 8:00 PM.

EXHIBITIONS

 

  • Lanzarote, human geography

On the occasion of European Geoparks Week, the exhibition Lanzarote, human geography, by photographer Pep Salip, focuses on the people behind the crafts of Lanzarote. The author portrays those who keep the island's traditions alive, paying them a visual tribute for their contribution to the conservation of this valuable cultural heritage.

When: from June 19 to 30. Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  

Where: Sala El Aljibe, Haría.

Free admission.

 

  • Tierra de hielo. Ildefonso Aguilar

As part of the complementary activities for the exhibition La profundidad del silencio by Ildefonso Aguilar, the screening of the audiovisual piece Tierra de hielo by the aforementioned visual artist has been scheduled, also including a live performance of the music composed for this work by his son, musician Samuel Aguilar. After the screening, there will be a colloquium with both artists.

When: Saturday, June 20 at 12:00 PM.

PERFORMING ARTS

 

  • El enroque. 2RC Teatro

The Rerouting is a comedy in which couple conflicts are the focus of the show: to be or not to be a couple, to love or not to love, to stay or to flee, to trust or to distrust, to be faithful or not…

  • Happy Bday Showgirls

Happy Birthday Showgirls is a show that combines live performances, interviews, humor, emotion, and audience participation in a hybrid format between theater, a late-night show, and an immersive experience. The proposal includes music, dance, performance, theater, and drag art.

When: Saturday, June 20 at 8:00 PM.

Where: Víctor Fernández Gopar “El Salinero” Theater, Arrecife. 

Ticket for 15 euros.

 

  • MOVE Canarias 2026

The Canarias 2026 International Movement Arts Festival will present three shows this Saturday at the Argana Baja Sociocultural Center.

The first is ‘Island by Island, Step by Step’, by Aníbal Llarena and Hans Coello. A proposal inspired by the island territory and movement between islands. The second is ‘Phi’ by the Enbedanza Company. A contemporary piece focused on the body, space, and harmony of movement. Third, ‘The Stranger’ by British creator Ian Garside is presented. A work that explores the figure of the stranger and the relationship between identity and belonging.

When: Saturday, June 20 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. 

Where: Argana Baja Sociocultural Center, Arrecife.

MUSIC

 

  • Canarias Gospel Choir

Canarias Gospel Choir is a choral group specializing in gospel music that brings together voices from different islands of the archipelago. The group stands out for the power of its performances, the vocal richness of its harmonies, and its connection with the audience.

Where: Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture, Arrecife.

Ancor Miranda Quartet

Ancor Miranda Quartet is a project led by the drummer and composer from Tenerife, Ancor Miranda. He is accompanied by saxophonists José Vera and Cristopher Pérez and double bassist David Muñoz.

The group explores a language that combines contemporary jazz, improvisation, and original compositions.

When: Friday, June 19 at 8:00 PM.

  • Malpaís de La Corona Festival

The "Malpaís de la Corona" Folk Festival celebrates its twenty-second edition in 2026, consolidated as one of the most representative cultural events in the municipality of Haría and the island of Lanzarote. This edition pays tribute to women who, from popular knowledge and oral tradition, served as healers on the island.

The invited groups are Estrella y Guía, from Gran Canaria, and the Grupo Agarau from La Orotava, Tenerife.

  • Spring Classical Music Festival

On June 19 at 8:00 PM, the last concert of the town's Spring Classical Music Festival will be held at the El Fondeadero civic center in Puerto del Carmen.

  • Calicanto

The all-female musical group from Lanzarote offers a concert with a repertoire that fuses tradition, bolero, ranchera, Latin music, pop, and touches of jazz, always maintaining their island roots.

  • Taburete

The pop-rock band Taburete lands in Lanzarote for the San Juan Bautista festivities in Haría. It is a musical group with influences from ranchera, boleros, ska, rocksteady, and Spanish pop-rock. It was founded in Madrid in 2014 by Guillermo "Willy" Bárcenas and Antón Carreño.

When: Monday, June 22 at 9:00 PM. 

Where: Plaza de la Constitución, Haría.
