The Summer Traveling Cinema cycle continues with screenings in Punta Mujeres on Friday and Saturday, and two dance workshops are organized, an art that will also star in a show in Yaiza. 

Additionally, the first original musical inspired by the universe of Korean pop (K-Pop) produced in Spain arrives in Lanzarote, and in the comedy section, Jorge Ávila presents his latest show at Jameos del Agua. 

In music, there are numerous proposals this week, including two concerts from the Canarias Jazz y Más festival; a new edition of Ciro Corujo's Spoken Concerts; a concert from the Moon Festival; the rock of Fernando Rubio & The Inner Demons; a performance by the Parranda de Buches; and a concert by Aristides Moreno and the 101 Brass Band to celebrate the Playa Blanca festivities. 

 

CINEMA 

 

  • Summer Traveling Cinema

Every summer, the squares and corners of Lanzarote are transformed into open-air cinemas with the Summer Traveling Cinema, a cultural proposal that brings the best cinema to all the municipalities on the island.

The cycle is held this week next to the Teleclub in Punta Mujeres on the 16th and 17th with the films ‘Burn After Reading’ and ‘Persepolis’.

When: July 16 and 17 in Punta Mujeres, at 9:00 PM. Full program

PERFORMING ARTS 

 

  • Intensive Contemporary and Urban Dance Workshop

Three days of work within the framework of the Traslación dance festival, focused on contemporary dance and urban dances, taught by four guest instructors: Reinier Alfonso, Alejandro Lithgow, Daniel Navarro, and Sifer Cypher 

When: July 20, 21, and 22. 

Where: Víctor Fernández Gopar “El Salinero” Theater.

Ticket between 10 and 50 euros.

 

  • IDOLS - The K-POP Revolution

IDOLS - The K-POP Revolution, subtitled "The Warriors of Rhythm," is the first original musical inspired by the universe of Korean pop (K-Pop) produced in Spain. In a dystopian future where music has been banned, three young K-Pop artists discover that their talent not only serves to evoke emotion but also has the power to liberate humanity. 

When: Saturday, July 11 at 4:30 PM.  

Where: Sala Teatro Atlántida, Arrecife.

Ticket at 25 euros.

 

  • Orillas. Fientan. Burkina Faso

The company Fientan, from Burkina Faso, founded in 2018 by choreographer and dancer Yaya Sanou, brings the artistic project Orillas. Sanou is a benchmark in West Africa for his work in contemporary dance, inclusion, and cultural accessibility.

When: Wednesday, July 22 at 8:00 PM.

Where: Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas, Yaiza.

  • Burkina Faso Dance Workshop

The Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas in Yaiza will host the African Dance Workshop taught by Yaya Sanou. The activity will take place on Wednesday, July 22 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

HUMOR

 

  • Jorge Ávila

‘Todo pa’ última hora’ is Jorge Ávila's second comedy show, in which he talks about living on the edge of the clock, improvised decisions, and being late... even for adult life.

  • Xavi Torres Trio & Miguel Zenón. Canarias Jazz & Más Festival

As part of the Canarias Jazz & Más Festival, one of the most surprising concerts of this edition arrives, bringing together in one project the Xavi Torres Trio, one of the most brilliant proposals in current European jazz, and Miguel Zenón, considered one of the most influential and innovative saxophonists and composers of his generation.

When: Friday, July 17 at 7:30 PM.

  • Marco Mezquida Trio. Canarias Jazz & Más Festival

Within the Canarias Jazz & Más Festival, pianist and composer Marco Mezquida presents Táctil, his new album: a proposal that reminds us that music is also experienced through the skin, vibration, and touch.

  • Conciertos Hablados (Talked Concerts)

Sisters Ayla and Julia Rodríguez, daughters of ‘El Colorao’, star in a new talked concert with Ciro Corujo, a timple player from Fuerteventura and a prominent folklore scholar. 

The format combines live performance with the stories, emotions, and experiences hidden behind each song.

When: Thursday, July 16 at 7:30 PM.

  • Índice y Medio. Noon Festival

Índice y Medio is a Canary Islands instrumental trio that reinvents root music with the timple, guitar, and double bass with elegant touches of jazz and world music.

  • Fernando Rubio & The Inner Demons

Fernando Rubio & The Inner Demons is the rock project of the Murcian musician Fernando Rubio and his band, who masterfully navigate rock, blues, soul, and country.

  • Parranda Marinera de Buches

La Parranda Marinera de Buches presents a folkloric performance in Arrecife, Lanzarote, combining music, dance, and an emotional floral offering in honor of the Virgen del Carmen. This event is held next to the Monument to the Martyrs of the Sea.

  • Arístides Moreno & 101 Brass Band

Arístides Moreno & 101 Brass Band was born from a meeting in the summer of 2019 between the singer-songwriter from Gran Canaria and the band from Tenerife, inspired by New Orleans brass bands and Balkan fanfares.
