Arrecife continues to prepare for its Carnival. On Monday night, January 16, the draw for the order of participation of the troupes for the exhibition to be held on Sunday, February 19 at 8:30 p.m. at the Fairgrounds took place at the Arrecife Civic Center.
The draw, which, as had happened last week with the competition of murgas, brought together the public linked to the participating groups, was done manually, by choosing by each of the representatives of the troupes of the closed envelopes with the name of each group.
At the end of the draw, the Councilor for Festivities of Arrecife, Encarna Páez, vindicated the exhibition of the troupes “because it is a unique opportunity to witness the creativity, talent and passion. These troupes are the result of months of hard work and dedication, and their presentation at the carnival is a sample of the cultural diversity and artistic richness of this island and an opportunity for visitors and residents to enjoy an exciting and unforgettable show.”
The draw decided that the order of performance of the exhibition would be as follows: “Los Cumbacheros”, “Los Timanfeiros”, “Los Guaracheros” and finally “Sur Caliente”.
However, after the draw, the troupe “Los Cumbacheros” proposed to change the order of departure because its members will not be able to have the costumes until just an hour before the start of the exhibition due to problems with the transport of the costumes from Tenerife. Therefore, it was agreed by those present that the troupe “Sur Caliente” will open the exhibition and “Los Cumbacheros” will close it.
Therefore, the following order of participation has finally been established: “Sur Caliente”, “Los Timanfeiros”, “Los Guaracheros” and “Los Cumbacheros”.
