After its celebration was suspended in 2020 and carried out symbolically last year due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the salt carpets have once again decorated the streets surrounding the Plaza de Las Palmas of the Church of San Gines this Saturday on the occasion of the celebration of Corpus Christi.
This year about 18 tons of salt provided by the City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote have been used. The Councilor for Culture of the Arrecife City Council, Abigail González, highlighted that "the tons of salt are free of microplastics and the dyes to give them color are organic."
This Sunday, June 19, the Corpus Christi procession will pass through the streets where the carpets are located.
