Televisión Canaria broadcasts this Thursday at 10:30 PM a new episode of Orígenes, José Manuel Ramos that this time takes us back to Lanzarote, an island of contrasts that combines the majesty of its volcanic landscape with the warmth of its people and the richness of its folklore. In this journey, we explore the deep connection between music, traditions, and the cultural identity of this unique land.

The adventure begins in the historic Villa de Teguise, the former capital of Lanzarote. From the imposing Castle of Santa Bárbara, one can contemplate a lunar landscape that bears witness to the island's history. At this point, José Manuel Ramos meets Alfredo Cabrera, whose conversation reveals the importance of preserving the cultural richness of Teguise and its folklore.

The episode also pays tribute to Ico Arrocha, an emblematic figure of Lanzarote's folklore. Thanks to technology, Ico's voice returns to move us with his musical legacy, while we enjoy a performance of malagueñas that keeps his memory alive.

The journey continues in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, guarded by the historic walls of the Castle of San Gabriel. In this city, the Arrecife parranda stands out as one of the most representative folk groups, preserving the melodies and rhythms that reflect the unique identity of its people. Among the picturesque streets of the old town, the cheerful sound of a parranda comes to life in the iconic Aguaresío alley, where traditional music intertwines with history.

In addition, the episode brings us closer to the cheerful marine parranda of Los Buches, characteristic characters of the traditional conejero carnival, whose energetic and colorful performances are a living celebration of local traditions. The honorary president and other members of the group share their passion for keeping this tradition in the heart of the island.

La Graciosa: Music as the Soul of the Island

The last stop takes us to the Los Toledo family of La Graciosa, who reflect the very essence of this paradisiacal corner. José Manuel Toledo, accompanied by brothers, nephews, and grandchildren, offers performances that demonstrate how his passion and talent have captured the authenticity of Lanzarote. Through their chords, the Toledo family keeps the cultural heritage of the island alive.

The episode concludes with a reflection on the importance of preserving and transmitting the traditions of Lanzarote, a legacy that connects generations and strengthens the link with the island's history. With each note and each dance, the folklore of Lanzarote continues to live, reminding us of the incalculable value of our cultural roots.
