The murga Los Noveleros won the first prize for Interpretation, Lyrics and Music, in addition to the third prize for Fantasy, Design and Costumes and the Buche Prize of the VIII children's murgas contest of the Carnival that was held this Saturday at the new Fairgrounds.
For their part, the members of the murga Los Chau Chau, won the first prize in the Fantasy, Design and Costumes section, the second in Interpretation, Lyrics and Music and the prize for the best Presentation.
The group of Los Intoxicaditos, took third place in Interpretation, Lyrics and Music and second in Fantasy, Design and Costumes, while that of Los Titiñecos received the Accésit of both modalities, in what has been their first experience in the murga contest.
This eighth edition of the Children's Murgas Contest, presented by the journalist Paola Delgado, also featured the performance of Magia Clown de Cia Hiram during the jury's deliberation.
The Children's Murga Los Titiñecos was the first to perform, and premiered its first carnival with a design of the murga itself: "Between sweets and candies, sugar and flavor, I am not Celia Cruz, but a sweet tooth clown".
Under the orders of Yurayma Cejas as musical director and with Luis Tavío as president, the 34 children's murgueros and murgueras of this group from the Titerroy neighborhood performed the songs: 'With my cape and my mask I come to save our carnival' and 'We arrived on a cruise to the conejero carnival'.
The second to take the stage were the 30 members of the murga Los Intoxicaditos. This murga from Valterra has been at the foot of the canyon since 1995. Its musical director and designers Francis García and its president Cristina Santana.
Los Intoxicaditos wore the fantasy '¡Oooolee!' and performed the songs 'Promises' and 'We come from a cruise'.
In third place performed the children's murga Los Chau Chau. Coming from the neighborhood of Valterra, its first appearance took place in the Carnival of 2007. It has 38 members musically directed by Samuel Hernández and its president is Pedro Hernández.
This year, they defended on stage the Fantasy entitled 'From the Indian neighborhood and newly arrived from the Wild West, come the Chau Chau with the gun loaded, to shoot glitter, to this Arrecifeño town, which already celebrates its carnival', Oswaldo Machín, in interpreted the themes i if I don't say it I burst' and 'Any Sunday'.
The last to perform were the 28 members of the murga Los Noveleros, from Maneje. They have been in the capital's carnival since 2017 and has Kiara Cáceres as musical director and Carmen Corujo as president.
The Fantasy with which they participated this year is entitled 'The seven or nine lives of the Novelero', designed by the murga itself, and the songs that have led them to achieve the highest prize in Interpretation, Lyrics and Music have been: 'The recommended artist of the week' and 'Creating our own carnival'.
The four murgas received a plaque in gratitude for their participation from the mayor, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, who were also in charge of presenting the first prizes; the first mayor the one corresponding to the Interpretation, Lyrics and Music section, and the head of the Festivities Area, the one for Fantasy, Design and Costumes.
