The weekend was marked by the presentations of the 'murgas' that will participate in the upcoming Carnival 2023 festivities.

The Víctor Fernández Gopar "El Salinero" Theater opened its doors this Saturday to accommodate the followers of the 'murgas' Los Desahuciados and Los Chau, Chau, 'murgas' with great involvement that have participated for many years in the Lanzarote carnival.

The show featured the participation of six dance couples from the Lanzarote Baila school, directed by Professor Miguel Medina de León. The overture was based on an artistic dance inspired by the children's stories of Pinocchio and Cinderella. The second act was dedicated to Latin rhythms such as bachata and salsa, the participating couples surprised the audience with the fantasies of their dresses and very elegant and well-crafted choreographies that were rewarded with resounding applause. Lanzarote Baile said goodbye to the stage with the performance of Miguel Medina himself and his partner.

The gala continued as planned, focusing on the little ones of the 'murguera' family, the quarry and future of the carnival. With a lot of rhythm and confidence, the 30 members of the children's 'murga' Los Chau Chau filled the stage. This group was founded in 2006 under the presidency of Pedro Hernández (Peter), and the musical direction of Samuel Hernández. This year they wear the fantasy "We return as clowns, because there is neither needle nor thread enough to sew what it feels like to be here with you again Carnival", designed by the 'murga' itself. On such a special day for them, they performed the Pasacalle, El Boleto and the Farewell. The little ones gave it their all on stage and throughout their performance the audience was showered with compliments and applause.

Next, the surprise of the night was starred by Drag Avalón who encouraged the public to participate while walking through the stalls surrounded by applause. The night reached its climax giving way to the 67 members who this year are part of Los Desahuciados. The 'murga' was founded in 1997 and is presided over by Miguel Martín, with Adrián Hernández acting as musical director. The fantasy they wear is entitled "From an Indian puma I arrive at the carnival, to sing and criticize what some do not want to hear", designed by Iván Marín Hormiga, a costume that left the audience speechless due to its visual appeal.

After knowing the clothing, it was time to discover the lyrics of one of the songs that they will take to the contest entitled Los Oportunistas and they also performed the parade march.

Before ending the event, the "Silver Evicted" was awarded, a distinction that is given to the 'murguero' who has been active for more than 20 years, falling on the member Suso Hernández. And so the end came where the famous "Matraca" could not be missing, with the public standing singing and raising their hands following the rhythm until the last moment, thus putting the finishing touch to the night.
