The Tenique Cultural Association, organizer of the Lanzarote Film Festival, has officially started the film selection process for the competition categories of the 14th edition: Official Feature Film Section and Crossroads: Filmmakers from the Canary Islands.

The deadline for submitting works began on July 25 and will remain open until September 24 at 11:59 p.m. (Canarian time), through the registration form available on the website of the Lanzarote Film Festival and at no economic cost.

According to the project director, Javier Fuentes Feo, "the objective is to design an offer with the best international, national and Canarian cinema, through a selection of films that highlight both their cinematographic quality and their innovative character." He also announced that the Film Festival will be held between November 21 and December 1, 2024.

For the Official Feature Film Section, films from any country or nationality that have been produced from January 1, 2023 and have a duration of more than 40 minutes may compete. For this category, a single Award for Best Film has been established, endowed with 6,500 euros.

The Crossroads: Filmmakers from the Canary Islands section, intended for the exhibition of short films produced and/or filmed in the Canary Islands or directed by filmmakers born or residing in the islands, is open to works produced from the year 2023 and that have a duration of no more than 30 minutes. The economic reward for the best film has increased compared to the previous year, with the purpose of supporting the island sector, and will be 1,250 euros.

The organization of the Lanzarote Film Festival will designate a jury composed of a minimum of three and a maximum of five people with proven prestige and solvency in the film industry, whose decision will be unappealable. As in previous editions since 2018, the deliberation will once again be public, something unique in the world that has made the Film Festival an event of international reference.

The details of the participation rules of the new edition of the Lanzarote contest can also be consulted on the web of the project. The Lanzarote Film Festival is a project organized by the Tenique Cultural Association, a non-profit entity whose main objectives are to promote, exhibit and discuss independent film production, analyze the local context in which it develops and connect it globally.

The initiative is sponsored by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote (CACT), the Society for Foreign Promotion of Lanzarote through its Film Commission product brand, the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Culture of Spain. It also has the collaboration of Bodegas el Grifo, the Regulatory Council of the wine of Lanzarote and the municipalities of Arrecife, Haría, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tías, Tinajo and Yaiza.
