The residents of the town of Mozaga celebrated the festival of Santa Lucía last Saturday. At 9 in the morning the Pilgrims' Mass was celebrated and at 1 p.m. the Religious Function was held, which, as usual, ended with the procession of Santa Lucía. This year, due to the rain that was falling at that time, the procession had to be suspended.

Already at night, despite the prevailing cold, the neighbors gathered in the tent installed in the vicinity of the Durán Sociocultural Center to enjoy the IV Meeting of the musical group La Pichona de Mozaga. The event began at 9:00 p.m. with the performance of the La Peña Folk Group, which was responsible for warming up the audience with their songs and dances. The La Peña family chose the most traditional of our folklore for the occasion, with folías, isas, malagueñas and sorondongo. The public supported them at all times with their applause.

Secondly, the young timple player David Rodríguez "El Majorero" took the stage, accompanied by the guitarist José Bolaños and the soloists Guillermo González "Meno" and Fernando Acosta. The Majorero team conquered the public with their naturalness, simplicity and how much they care for their traditional roots, without adding other elements that are not those inherited from the elders of the island of Maxorata.

The hosts and organizers, the members of the musical group La Pichona de Mozaga, put the finishing touch, who, true to their commitment to the town and its supporters, surprised with a careful repertoire that included Canary and Latin American songs. The voices of Vanessa Rijo, Bruno Martín and Raúl de León stood out at a very good level.

For this edition they also had the special collaboration of the flautist Yasuyo Tsuchiya, the timple player David Rodríguez, the percussionist Óscar Fleitas and the musical arrangers Álex Morales and Gabriel García, all under the direction of Toni Rodríguez. With the last notes of the isa parrandera, the end point was put to this IV Meeting of La Pichona de Mozaga.
