The weekend has been marked by the different presentations of the murga families, which make it possible for the Lanzarote Carnival to once again take over the stages and streets of our island.

Last Saturday night, the Municipal Theater of Tías was chosen by the family of the murga Los Simplones, who were surrounded by family, friends, and followers, completely filling the allowed capacity, managing to develop each of the performances that they had programmed with such care with great enthusiasm and skill.

The theater hall and stage were filled with color and Caribbean rhythms with the performance of the comparsa Los Cumbacheros from Tahíche. Group led by Sergio Niz, a young man dedicated to the show who takes maximum care of even the smallest detail to ensure that everything goes according to the script. Los Cumbacheros was founded in 2012 and is the first comparsa from Lanzarote to have participated for 6 years in the "Rhythm and Harmony" contest of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. For this night, they wore the fantasy work of Borja Abreu "The Treasure of Sheba." The comparsa is musically directed by Gesury García, who is always attentive to each of the choreographies that were highly applauded by the public.

After the musical rhythms and choreographies of Los Cumbacheros, it was time to relax with the humor of the Lanzarote comedian Kike Pérez, considered another member of the Los Simplones family. As soon as Kike makes an appearance on stage, he reaches the audience with complete ease due to his dedication and the folksy way of telling each of the stories, many of them based on his own life and where many of the spectators are also reflected.

The Lanzarote comedian began on stage in early 2006 and after winning a series of monologue contests since 2012, he decided to dedicate himself professionally to comedy, a profession that has taken him through the stages of the Canary Islands and the Peninsula, managing in each performance to make the public enjoy and forget their problems for a few minutes, bringing a smile to their faces, just like the spectators present at the gala who laughed heartily.

And the most anticipated moment of the night arrived, the performance of the hosts, the 45 members of the murga Los Simplones. The murga, founded in 2005, is presided over by Mencey Curbelo García and the musical direction is led by Enrique Martín de León. On this occasion, they wore the fantasy "Like a Footballer but much more Warrior" designed by Francis García, Mencey Curbelo and a group of murgueros, and made by Renne Modistos, murga accessories and family members. The fantasy surprised with its originality and color, fully complying with the canons of the carnival. Next, they presented the song entitled "Lexical family of the word - Pasar", to which they also added the parade and the anthem.

In their presentation gala each year, Los Simplones distinguish a colleague who has stood out for their companionship and good behavior, deserving of the "Carlos Pérez" trophy, and this year it is already in its IX edition and went to Alejandro Olivares. In addition, this year the "I Iván Carlos - El Raskay Trophy" was also awarded to Francis García Bernal for his dedication and effort with the murga family.

After the awards ceremony, the final moment arrived with an impressive end of the party as is customary in each presentation gala where murgueros and the public, all together, sing and dance, overflowing with joy.
