The exhibition Lanzarote and La Graciosa from another perspective was inaugurated last Friday at the Inocencia Páez Socio-Cultural Center on the eighth island. This exhibition is a review of the photographic work of the well-known local artist, Gustavo Medina, which has been organized by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the City Council of Teguise.
The Minister of Culture, Jesús Machín, expressed that "lovers of photography, nature and island beauty will enjoy a great experience observing the captivating work of Gustavo Medina, an invitation to contemplate Lanzarote and La Graciosa from a completely new perspective".
This exhibition is more than just a collection of images. It is a tribute to the exquisite natural beauty that defines Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Gustavo Medina, recognized for his dedication to the contemplation of the island's nature, dazzles viewers with a unique vision of these paradisiacal landscapes. His photographs capture the very essence of the island and the way in which meteorology shapes and transforms its environment, serving as a mirror of self-discovery.
"Since my childhood in the mid-80s, I have fond memories of going with my father to La Geria, to the farm he owns there, and being able to observe, among other phenomena, those amazing sunrises. That's where my great hobby, meteorology, was born. I wanted to immortalize it from the beginning, in combination with the spectacular landscapes of the island, and that's how I started in the world of photography. These years of work have allowed me to know the strategic places of the island and how to get the most out of them photographically, combining them with atmospheric and astronomical phenomena," said Gustavo Medina about his creative process.
The exhibition will be open to the public from November 17 to February 2024 at the Inocencia Páez Socio-Cultural Center in La Graciosa. Admission is free, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in Medina's unique vision of these impressive places.
