The Lanzarote Literature Festival (FDLL25) was officially presented this Tuesday in the Board Room of the Tías Town Hall, confirming a third edition marked by the quality of its program and the territorial expansion of the event.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, highlighted the consolidation of the festival as a cultural reference: "It is gaining more and more strength and national weight." For his part, the director of the contest, the writer Carlos Battaglini, celebrated the growth of the project since its creation in 2023 and stressed its expansive vocation: "We want to bring the narrative force of the FDLL to all corners of the island, which is why this year we have moved to the south." In addition, he expressed his satisfaction with the high level of registrations: "We are positively overwhelmed."

A literary journey through three municipalities

Under the slogan "Letters of rofe and salt", the FDLL25 will take place between October 9 and December 3 in the municipalities of Tías, Yaiza and Arrecife. The Councilor for Culture of Tías, Pepa González, celebrated that the municipality becomes a cultural epicenter: "The FDLL is a unique festival in the Canary Islands, with a cast of first-rate authors and a motto that connects with our identity." From Yaiza, the Councilor for Culture, César Rijo, thanked the event for opening to the south of the island and vindicated "the importance of consuming culture and reading."

Six meetings with essential voices

The program includes six literary talks moderated by Carlos Battaglini and starring renowned authors of contemporary literature:

  • Fernando Aramburu – October 9, Municipal Theater of Tías.

  • Elizabeth Duval – October 16, El Fondeadero Civic Center (Puerto del Carmen).

  • Cristina Fernández Cubas – October 28, Municipal Theater of Tías.

  • Sergio del Molino – November 6, El Fondeadero Civic Center.

  • Mónica Ojeda – November 19, Casa Benito Pérez Armas (Yaiza).
