The residents of the town of Femés celebrated the festivity of Our Lady of the Rosary this Sunday. At 6:00 p.m., the Eucharist began, presided over by the parish priest of Yaiza, Yonathan Almeida, and the small hermitage where San Marcial del Rubicón, patron saint of Lanzarote, is located, filled to capacity with parishioners from Femés and others who had come from different parts of the island.
After the Mass, the procession through the streets of the town took place, preceded by the image of the Virgin. The celebrating priest, the municipal authorities, including the Councilor for Festivities, Daniel Medina, and parishioners, walked the streets in a procession that was enlivened by the Janubio and El Golpito musical groups.
Upon returning to the church, the musical offering took place, performed by the Janubio musical group, reinforced by students from the school directed by Professor Clotildo Martín, who performed some Punto Cubanos with verses to the Virgin. The El Golpito musical group also participated with airs of folías and verses dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, sung by Olive Martín and Fabio Martín. Then, the image of the Virgin of the Rosary was bid farewell with applause.
The day of celebration ended with the public moving to the tent installed in the square where they enjoyed a Canarian snack and enjoyed the music of the Sondemar musical group.
