It was hot, although the weather gave a small respite that allowed the town of Femés to participate and enjoy this weekend the festivities in honor of the Virgen del Rosario, a meeting with tradition and religious fervor that had its most endearing event in the pilgrimage on Sunday, animated by the Janubio band and the Rubicón Folk Group, which at the end of the pilgrimage offered their offering of music and dance, at the foot of the image of the Virgin, in front of the historic church of San Marcial de Rubicón.

“How times change”, commented locals, “before, at this time of year, we were wearing sweaters and it even rained, and now in October we have pure summer heat”. Despite a certain "discomfort" due to the climate situation, residents of Femés, people from other municipalities on the Island and tourists who happened to be visiting the town of La Atalaya, took to the streets to fulfill their adoration of the Virgin.

The religious service presided over by the parish priest of Yaiza, Jonathan Almeida, was attended mainly by the pastoral community of Femés, always faithful to the celebrations of San Marcial, at the beginning of July, and also to the festivity inspired by the Marian invocation of the Rosary in October. The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, the Councilor for Festivities, Javier Camacho, and councilors of the municipal government accompanied Femés on its Rosary Day.

Femés experienced Sunday "intensely" in the pilgrimage and then in the Canarian enyesque animated by the group 'Sondemar' in the square, but also defied the threat of heat to dance and fraternize on Saturday night to the rhythm of the 'Son del Norte' band and the groups 'Lanzarote Swing' and 'Trío Swing'. The town had a good time enjoying the program designed by its Festival Committee and the Yaiza City Council.
