Eusebio Cabrera and Jorge Fernández, winners of the XXVIII Guanapay Canary Islands Couplets Contest

The Guanapay Folk Group announced the decision this Thursday at the Timple House-Museum in Teguise

The Timple House-Museum in Teguise hosted the event organized by the family of the Guanapay Folk Group last Thursday night to announce the jury's decision for the 'XXVIII Guanapay Canary Islands Couplets Contest'. The very simple and emotional event was well supported by the residents of Teguise and members of Guanapay, all eager to know the names of the winners of this edition.

The event began with the constitution of the presidential table formed by the president of the jury, Miguel Ángel Bermúdez Rodríguez accompanied by the two female members of the jury in charge of reading all the couplets received, Carmen Ramón Villalba and María de las Nieves Hernández Díaz. Francisco Hernández Delgado, Official Chronicler of Teguise, was in charge of opening the envelopes and announcing the names of the winners.

The prize for the best set of couplets with the motto 'Tisalaya' went to Eusebio Cabrera Hernández from San Cristóbal de La Laguna in Tenerife. The prize for the Best Couplet went to Jorge Fernández with the motto 'Ay', residing in Breña Alta on the island of La Palma.

Miguel Ángel Bermúdez, president of the jury, closed the event thanking those present for their attendance and all the participants for their involvement, contributing to keeping the literary history of the Canary Islands alive. The event was also attended by the Councilor for Culture of the Teguise City Council, Francisco Javier Díaz, Rita Hernández and Mirian Camejo.
