Dozens of parishioners crowded the Church of San Ginés and the surroundings of Plaza de Las Palmas to celebrate one of the religious events framed in the calendar of the Catholic Church, Corpus Christi.
At 12 noon and presided over by the parish priest of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina, the Solemn Mass began, an opportunity to revive the faith. The songs for such a special day were directed by Professor Carmen Dolores Rodríguez, which were also followed by the entire community.
Once the Eucharist was finished, the great procession began. When the parish priest carrying the Custody with the Sacred Host and under a canopy crossed the portico of the church, applause sounded at the same time as the chords of the national anthem played by "La Unión Musical de Lanzarote." This band, directed by Professor Pepe Artiles, was in charge of accompanying the entire processional route through the streets near the church.
The roads were decorated with the traditional salt carpets that had been made the night before by various social and cultural groups on the island.
The processional route was followed with great recollection, only interrupted by some applause as the priest passed with the Sacred Host under a canopy. At the end of the route, a stop was made before the altar located in Plaza de Las Palmas, where a prayer of thanksgiving was said, continuing the procession to the interior of the church.
