The wise, extensive and always pragmatic Spanish proverb says that "he who laughs at everything, lives well." Less prosaic, authors such as Paulo Coelho or Víctor Hugo consider that laughter is the fire that burns tears and the sun that drives away the winter from the human face.
However, the only certainty is that laughter is something inherent to the human being; a symptom of happiness, at least momentary, and the indispensable fuel to face the day to day.
For that reason, the Tourist Centers and the Lanzarote comedian Kike Pérez have joined forces to launch Lunáticxs, a talent show that will turn the restaurant of the Castle of San José into a launching platform for new stars of humor made in the Canary Islands.
Eight amateur, emerging comedians, four men and four women, five galas, a unique Master of Ceremonies and a great desire to laugh, even if it's a Monday, are the basic ingredients of an initiative that represents "a great opportunity to make themselves known to the general public showing the talent and desire to make others laugh that the protagonists of Lunáticxs have inside", said the counselor of the Tourist Centers, Ángel Vázquez.
The genius of Lanzarote humor, Kike Pérez, for his part, recalled that he began "to walk in this of comedy through humor contests, I won a few back in 2009 and 2010, and from there, my career has gone as it has gone, fortunately. I would like the new comedians of the Canary Islands to live that same experience, and that is why we have set to work to create Lunáticxs".
For his part, Paco Chinea, from Multitrack, explained that "we have always been committed to humor made in the Canary Islands. We have been accompanying artists and supporting the production of local comedy for decades. Because of this previous experience, and because we are convinced that in the archipelago there is a lot of hidden talent that deserves to be promoted and shared, is why we have launched this project."
What is Lunáticxs?
Lunáticxs is, above all, a contest. A contest with a title that has a double interpretation: on the one hand, it refers to the day of the week in which the galas will be held, Mondays; on the other, it uses a neutral tone of language (-x) to emphasize its inclusive nature.
The contest is open to comedians residing in the archipelago who will participate in four galas in which four men and four women previously selected will face each other. The winners of each of them will go to the Grand Final.
All galas will be held in the restaurant of the Castle of San José, which will have free access until full capacity. It can be accessed by invitation, available on the CACT website from October 16.
The preliminary galas will be held on October 20 and November 3, 10 and 17, while the Final will be held on November 24.
The winner of Lunáticxs will get a prize of 500 euros; will accompany Kike Pérez in one of his performances in the coming months, and will get a contract offer to be part of the cast of comedians of Multitrack.
Lunáticxs is a project selected in the cultural call of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism for the current year.
