The fashion show of the Lanzarote designer María Cao, was held this Saturday night at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. The show began around 10:30 p.m. and featured the presentation of the 'Capsule Gaia' collection, with garments created with "sustainability" and a commitment to the environment, something that the designer advocates. "Giving a second life instead of discarding, creating "Conscious Luxury", that is the objective of the collection", says Chao.
With the collaboration of Rufina Santana, both have promoted work with recycled materials, from hemp, neoprene, technological fabrics, all from the art of 'Upcyling-Conscious Recycling', a creative form of recycling. A collection created from plastic bottles, boat nets, Teflon, cellulose, and various materials, which are transformed into different textures, and given a "new use instead of generating more garbage".
"These sustainable garments are in harmony with the environment," says the designer. It is important that "we take care of and respect our planet, in addition to thinking about future generations," she adds. We must remember that "we are a Biosphere reserve, thanks to César Manrique, and his legacy" and it is "a privilege", she reveals.
Among the models who have paraded on the catwalk with the different garments of the collection were the daughter of the German consul, Leandra Maguer, and the former participant of the eighth edition of 'Masterchef' Luna Zacharias, who currently has a restaurant in Soo, the 'Munsoo'. In addition, it featured the presence of the synchronized dance of the Real Club Náutico, which was part of the parade on the catwalk.
The stylists AYM Almudena Morales and Miguel Betancor also participated in the presentation of the collection, who were in charge of styling and fixing the models who paraded on the catwalk.
