The program designed for this week by Cultura Arrecife begins at 7:00 p.m. this Thursday, the 23rd, at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture with the presentation of the book They've Sung Bingo by the Lanzarote author and illustrator Lana Corujo, who will unravel her work in conversation with Juli Mesa, also from Lanzarote, a visual artist and author of the poetry collection Soo.
In what is her narrative debut, Lana Corujo tells, through a story full of emotions and symbols, and with captivating language, how two sisters come together every night in a dangerous game at the foot of a volcano, an experience that will change their lives forever. In the background of the work, a childhood marked by tragedy, family secrets, and silences.
Music
In addition, Cultura Arrecife has scheduled two other events for Friday the 24th with music as the main focus. The first, in collaboration with the Crafts Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and also at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture, where from 7:30 p.m. timple player Benito Cabrera and luthier and scholar of Renaissance and Baroque string instruments, Carlos Oramas, will take a journey 'From the Vihuela to the Timple'.
Both Canarian musicians will offer a commented duo concert, combining different plucked string instruments handcrafted by Paco Dorta, the only luthier in the Archipelago specializing in the construction of ancient instruments, in which they will explain how the evolution, history, and transformation of these instruments, including the vihuela, gave rise to the current timple. The event is promoted by the Aceró Música Antigua de Lanzarote Cultural Association and Paco Dorta himself.
Finally, also on Friday the 24th, Cultura Arrecife has scheduled the concert 'A Night with Chavela' from 8:30 p.m. at La Recova Municipal, promoted by JRB.O Jiribillas, in which the singer and actress, Thania Gil, a participant in the television contest 'The Voice' in 2020, will evoke the emblematic performer of ranchera music with the soundtrack of classic songs such as 'Macorina', 'Adoro', 'La Llorona', 'De un mundo raro' and 'Luz de luna'.
