The residents of Altavista celebrated this Thursday the festivity of their Patron Saint, San Antonio María Claret. At 6:00 p.m. the Eucharist began, presided over by the new parish priest, Clemente López, and assisted by Juan Carlos Medina, parish priest of San Ginés.
On such a special day, the church was full of parishioners, residents of Altavista, and other citizens from neighboring neighborhoods. The songs for the celebration were animated in the musical part by Professor Pepe Artiles on the piano and Lisardo on the guitar. The parish priest Clemente López, in charge of preaching the homily, based on the life of San Antonio María Claret, popularly known as 'El Padrito', and his stay in Lanzarote.
After the Eucharist, the Procession took place through the streets of the neighborhood, led by the Music Band 'La Unión Musical de Lanzarote, directed by Professor Pepe Artiles. Behind the band was the image of San Antonio María Claret, the celebrating priests, municipal authorities, and parishioners. Upon returning and already in the churchyard, the Music Band performed the composition 'Marcha Procesional', which was highly applauded by the public.
Immediately afterward, a refreshment was offered in the parish facilities, and then the public moved to the Neighborhood Association to enjoy the performance of Pepe Benavente. A charismatic and approachable singer who, with his songs of different genres, put the audience on the dance floor, who very animatedly danced his entire repertoire, receiving a warm applause as a reward for his dedication and affection. The festive day culminated with fireworks that filled the sky of Altavista with their colors.
