The Court of Instruction number 1 of Arrecife has sentenced to six months in prison the 32-year-old man who was arrested for assaulting his ex-partner at the Caleta de Famara festivities during the early hours of Saturday to Sunday. After being brought to justice, the arrested man faced a quick trial this Monday in which he acknowledged the facts, and a settlement sentence was handed down.

As confirmed by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, H.J.P.P. has been convicted of a crime of domestic violence in the family environment with the aggravating circumstance of recidivism since, as La Voz reported, he had a history of gender violence against another woman. Likewise, he has been banned from approaching the victim within 500 meters.

The young man, who is a resident of Tinajo although originally from Arrecife, was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in Caleta de Famara, where he was still the morning after the assault. According to the Civil Guard, his partner became "unconscious" as a result of the "blows and punches" she received, and for which she was treated at around six in the morning at the Molina Orosa Hospital.

After the events, the Civil Guard located a witness, a friend of the victim, who recounted what happened, after which the search for the alleged perpetrator began, who also threatened to kill the agents of the Benemérita when they went to arrest him. In addition, according to the Civil Guard, H.J.P.P. also assaulted the victim's current partner, although in this case the injuries he caused were less serious.
