Three years in prison for a man who introduced a kilo of cocaine in Lanzarote on Epiphany

The Prosecutor's Office and the defendant's defense reached an agreement whereby he will have to pay a fine of more than 92,000 euros or face two more months in prison

The First Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas has judged this Tuesday in Arrecife W.R.N. for a crime against public health for introducing nearly a kilogram of cocaine at the Lanzarote Airport during the Epiphany of this year. The Prosecutor's Office and the defendant's defense have reached an agreement by which this man has pleaded guilty.

To this end, the Public Prosecutor's Office has reduced its request from six to three years in prison with the accessory of disqualification from the right to passive suffrage during the term of the sentence. In addition to the payment of a fine of 92,412.47 euros, which will be compensated with two more months in prison for the confessed perpetrator.

The events date back to January 6, 2023, when the perpetrator introduced drugs at the César Manrique aerodrome. In total, he was carrying a hundred cylindrical capsules with 992.3 grams of cocaine that had a purity of 69.59%. Thus, the product amounted to 92,412.47 euros in the illicit market.

W.R.N. had been in provisional detention since January 7 of this year, as a precautionary measure. Now he will have to complete the three years and two months of prison.
