A defendant accused of introducing about a kilo of cocaine in Lanzarote during the Epiphany Day to trial

The First Section of the Provincial Court will judge next Tuesday, October 24, a man accused of introducing about one kilogram of cocaine at the César Manrique airport on Epiphany Day. The events took place at 9:40 p.m. on January 6 of this year, when the accused arrived in Lanzarote on a flight from Barcelona. 

The Chamber foresees that an agreement of conformity will be reached between the accused and the Public Prosecutor's Office. According to the Prosecutor's Office's indictment, the man would have carried a hundred cylindrical capsules of this narcotic substance attached to his abdomen and inside his shoes. This drug had a richness of 69.59% and its value in the illicit market would have reached 92,412.47 euros.

The accused has been in provisional prison since January 7 of this year as a precautionary measure until the celebration of this trial. The Public Prosecutor's Office asks for him for an alleged crime against public health, in the modality of substances that cause serious damage to health, a prison sentence of six years in prison, with the accessory of special disqualification for the right of passive suffrage during the time of the sentence and a fine of 277,237.42 euros. 

In addition, the confiscation of drugs and payment of costs.
