The judge sends the detainee to prison for introducing 400 kilos of cocaine in a small plane

The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas must try next week two men who were arrested in March 2018 in Arrecife with 22.17 grams of cocaine, distributed in 34 bollards of different purity. The Prosecutor's Office requests 5 years and one month in prison for one of them and 6 years in prison for the other, who already had a criminal record for another previous drug trafficking crime.

However, an agreement of conformity is expected to be reached and the hearing will not be held, since the Chamber has scheduled seven other trials for the same day. This would imply the confession of the accused and a reduction in the penalties initially requested by the Public Prosecutor.

According to the indictment, M.S.D. and B.B. were caught with the drug at 3:25 a.m., when they were inside a rental vehicle parked on Ruiz de Alarcón street in Arrecife. After their arrest and the analysis of the seized substance, it was determined that it was cocaine and that it would have reached a value in the illicit market of 2,641 euros.

In addition, at the time of their arrest, the amount of 2,518 euros was also seized, "as well as a precision scale, a bag with 13 open and empty plastic wrappers of those used to transport drugs inside the body and 11 mobile phones."

The Public Prosecutor's Office classifies the facts as a crime against public health, applying the aggravating circumstance of recidivism in the case of B.B.

In addition to the prison sentences, the Prosecutor's Office also requests a fine of 7,925 euros for each of them, with the subsidiary personal responsibility of 5 months of deprivation of liberty in case they do not comply with the payment. However, the fines could also be reduced if the agreement of conformity is ratified.
