The Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next week a resident of Haría who was arrested in January 2017 for downloading and sharing images and videos of child sexual abuse. The Prosecutor's Office is asking for 7 years in prison for a crime related to prostitution and corruption of minors, as well as his disqualification for 10 years for any profession or trade that involves contact with children.
The arrest of A.V.O.H. occurred as a result of an investigation by the Technological Investigation team of the Civil Guard, which became aware of an exchange of files with pedophile content over the Internet, managing to identify the IP of this user.
“He downloaded 34 explicit files of child sexual abuse that constitute videos of unequivocal child pornographic content, which have been available to an indefinite number of users through the Edonkey Network”, the Public Prosecutor points out in his indictment.
After obtaining judicial authorization to enter and search his home, the agents found many other files of boys and girls without clothes or in explicit sexual attitudes. Only on an external hard drive did he have more than a million files of pedophile content, in addition to other photographs and videos that he kept on several pen drives.
Girls as young as 7 years old
According to the Prosecutor's Office, some girls who appeared naked were only 7 years old, while others, between 10 and 14 years old, were seen masturbating. There were also dozens of images focused “on the female genitals of the girls”
“The acts were carried out by the accused knowing that every time he started downloading a file from said platform, he became a server for others of the part of the computer file that was being downloaded, making the file in question available to any user of the eMule program, so that an indeterminate number of people have been able to access, view or store some of the aforementioned images”, underlines the Prosecutor's Office, which considers that the accused “carried out such acts moved by his sexual attraction to minors”.
In his qualification brief, the Public Prosecutor's Office also requests other additional measures, such as supervised release when he serves the prison sentence in case of conviction. On the one hand, to guarantee that the prohibition of any activity that implies direct contact with minors is complied with for eight years, and also that he be forced to participate in sexual education programs for pedophiles for 5 years.
