The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next week in Arrecife a man accused of raping his ex-partner in a vacant lot on the island. The Prosecutor's Office is asking for 14 years in prison for him, for a crime of threats and another of rape, “in its modality of penetration through the mouth”.

According to the indictment, the events occurred in May 2020, when the accused, “believing that he could impose his will on the victim, having been his sentimental partner”, “forced her to perform fellatio”, using violence to do so “with the intention of intimidating her and overcoming her will”.

The accused was arrested shortly after and has been in provisional prison ever since, according to the Prosecutor's Office in its writing.

When requesting the penalties, the Public Prosecutor's Office applies the aggravating circumstance of gender, both in the crime of rape and in that of threats. For the first, he asks for 12 years in prison and for the second, two years.

In addition, he demands that he compensate the victim with the amount of 4,500 euros for the moral damages suffered, as well as that a restraining order be imposed on him, with a prohibition to approach less than 500 meters or to communicate in any way with her for 23 years.

He also requests that in case of conviction, when he serves his prison sentence, he be placed on supervised release for 10 years.
