The Judicial Deanship of Arrecife has taken the first step towards the implementation of a social information service for people with disabilities, which would be provided in the judicial building of the capital of Lanzarote free of charge.

The initiative has been agreed upon with the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the different social services of the Island, the Canarian Health Service, the legal operators and the associations supporting people with disabilities.

The project is born from the conception of Justice as a "public service that must guarantee comprehensive care for people with disabilities and their families/close people, who come to the courts".

The offer would be based in the judicial building of Arrecife. The aim is that those interested not only find a legal answer to their needs, but also a social one, moving to the courts, at least certain days of the month, an information work.

The project also seeks to incorporate into the guide a shift of facilitators to be offered to people with disabilities who are parties in judicial proceedings. Facilitators who, as the new law dictates, perform adaptation and adjustment tasks necessary for people with disabilities, in each procedure, to understand and be understood.

In the coming days, the works and meetings will begin to develop, in a coordinated manner, the text of the aforementioned guide, ensuring that it can be submitted to the approval of the Board of Judges of Lanzarote and the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands.
