Multiple Run Over in Playa Blanca

The woman investigated for the multiple hit-and-run in Playa Blanca in which a five-month-old baby died last March appeared this Friday before the Investigating Court number 1 of Arrecife. The woman has exercised her right not to testify, according to sources from the Communication Office of the Courts.

The 23-year-old appeared on Friday morning after she was unable to testify on March 14 due to suffering a nervous breakdown.

After the appearance, the Court maintained the precautionary measures dictated at the time, which are the obligation to sign in court every 15 days, on the 1st and 15th of each month, the withdrawal of the passport and the prohibition to leave the national territory.

The Investigating Court is investigating the commission of a crime of reckless homicide and another of driving under the influence of alcohol, toxic drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances (379.2 of the CP).

Likewise, the various affected people have appeared and will be questioned in due course. In addition, we are waiting to receive several technical and forensic reports.

The hit-and-run took place on March 11 at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Archipiélago Avenue in front of the Flamingo Hotel in the southern town. During the incident, a five-month-old baby died and six other people were injured, four of a moderate nature and two women of a serious nature.

The victims were English and Swedish tourists who were walking on the sidewalk when the vehicle, also driven by an English woman, ran over them.
