Prison for murder for woman who let her baby die in the bathrooms of a clinic in the Canary Islands

A judge in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria) has ordered this Wednesday the pre-trial detention without bail of the woman accused of abandoning and leaving her baby to die in the bathrooms of a private clinic in the town of Maspalomas, for the crime of murder.

The events occurred last Sunday, January 4, when employees of the San Roque Meloneras Hospital found the body of a newborn in the center's restrooms and notified the Police.

The case has been taken over by the judge of Court 3 of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Court of First Instance, who has already taken a statement from the detainee and has ordered her pre-trial detention, according to information from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands.
