The Criminal Court number 1 of Arrecife condemns Raquel Córdoba, former president of an animal rights association at the time of the events, for a crime of slander against two civil guards "to a penalty of 10 months of fine with a daily fee of 12 euros and a subsidiary personal responsibility of one day of deprivation of liberty for every two unpaid fees, as well as the payment of costs caused in this crime."

Likewise, as a civilly liable party, she must compensate both agents with the amount of 1,000 euros each. The sentence is not final and the defendant can file an appeal within 10 days.

The sentenced events refer to a publication made on June 26, 2020 by Raquel Córdoba in which, without naming them, she wrote: "How sad it is that the 3 Seprona agents in Lanzarote are charged with not doing their job and for leaving, with this omission of duty, animals tortured to the point of almost causing their death along the way. On July 7, the judge ordered them to appear before him. For all this and more, these 3 vile, cowardly and professionally worthless beings, unfit to wear the uniform of the Benemérita, may end up in jail. Remember the case of the dog King, beaten and tortured by Sergio and Alberto Hernández Socas. Remember that it was Sergeant Gloria Moreno of Seprona who initiated the proceedings that these 3 supposedly corrupt and heartless policemen tried to prevent from coming to light. How do we defend ourselves from the police who have to provide a service to society and animals? What kind of vocation do these thugs have towards poor living beings? Don't forget these names and if you meet them on the street, better change sidewalks."
