The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next July 2 in Lanzarote a defendant accused of carrying more than 50 kilograms of cannabis and cocaine, as well as nearly 800 grams of MDMA and several other cocaine wrappers of lower purity hidden in boxes of onions and potatoes.
The events date back to June 27, 2024, two years ago. The Prosecutor's Office accuses B.I.R.M. of going to a transport company in the port of Arrecife at 8:20 in the morning and collecting several boxes where he allegedly hid the drug.
According to the indictment of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the defendant B.I.R.M. was stopped by a police checkpoint at the exit of the Arrecife Port roundabout. After analyzing the content of the boxes, the agents found 430 tablets of cannabis resin, weighing 43 kilos; as well as eight blocks of cocaine with a total weight of eight kilos and a purity of 81.55%; in addition to a wrapper of MDMA of 99 grams and a purity of 15.2%; as well as seven wrappers of cocaine in 698 grams and a purity of 70.77%.
In total, the value of the seized drug amounts to 372,171 euros. The defendant has been in provisional prison since June 30, 2024, for these events.
The Prosecutor's Office accuses him of a crime against public health of notorious importance and requests eight years in prison, a fine of 800,000 euros, and payment of judicial costs. In addition, it requests the confiscation of the seized drug.
