A social court in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has ruled in favor of a healthcare worker affiliated with CSIF, recognizing her status as a permanent employee, after proving a situation of abuse in temporary hiring for almost two decades, the union reported.

According to CSIF, this is the first judicial ruling in the Canary Islands that recognizes the permanence of a healthcare worker in application of European regulations and the evolution of jurisprudence against the abuse of temporality.

The healthcare worker began working in 2007 at the Institute of Social and Sociosanitary Care of Tenerife and strung together 131 temporary contracts, the last of which was a vacancy interinidad with a duration of six years.

The court has recognized the plaintiff's right to the status of permanent labor personnel due to abuse of temporary hiring in a ruling that, according to CSIF, is "an important precedent for thousands of healthcare professionals who have been providing services for years through temporary contracts or prolonged appointments".
