A couple is on trial in the Canary Islands accused of raping and recording their minor daughters

The Las Palmas Court will try this Thursday a man and a woman, a couple, who face requests for a sentence of 42 years in prison, accused of having raped their two daughters, minors, jointly and repeatedly and of having recorded pornographic images of them.

According to the Prosecutor's Office's brief, the defendants, B.A.L.P, father of one of the minors, and T.N.L.M., mother of the other girl, committed these sexual abuses between October 2019 and June 2022 in Gran Canaria and recorded them in photographic and video images.

The defendant also had similar pornographic material of other minors who have not been identified stored, specifically more than 200 files, the Public Prosecutor's Office specifies.

The images, seized by the Police, were found on two mobile phones, three hard drives, and a USB memory stick.

The Prosecutor's Office accuses each of the defendants of four crimes, two continuous sexual abuse with carnal access (one for each girl, one of whom was five years old at the time) and two of using a minor to produce child pornography.

The public prosecution requests that both be stripped of parental authority over all their minor children for six years, not only the two affected girls: other minors in the case of the defendant and one in the case of the defendant.

In addition, it requests that the defendant compensate his daughter with 200,000 euros, jointly with the defendant, and that the defendant's minor daughter be compensated with 100,000 euros jointly as well.

The youngest of the girls has suffered behavioral and emotional functioning disorders, the brief indicates.

Both defendants have been in provisional prison for this case since June 2022 (him) and January 2023 (her), although B.A.L.P. has a criminal record for a crime of threats, for breach of sentence, and for discovery of secrets.
