The civic association El sol sale para todos brings to the attention of the Arrecife Prosecutor's Office that the illegal hotel Sandos Papagayo Beach Resort, formerly Papagayo Arena, "uses public resources" for "the maintenance and promotion of the activity" of the establishment.
El Sol sale para todos states in a letter addressed to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which is investigating the proceedings of the complaint filed by the same association against the Yaiza City Council and the Government of the Canary Islands for alleged dereliction of duty, that the events surrounding the Hotel Sandos Papagayo "are not only irreconcilable with the general interest and legality", but also "use public resources" to maintain themselves. This was reported by the digital newspaper Canarias Ahora and has been confirmed by La Voz de Lanzarote.
In this regard, it points to the subsidy given by the General Directorate of Economic Promotion and Diversification of the Government of the Canary Islands to the entity Papagayo Arena SL for the value of 2.45 million euros.
In addition to the fact that the Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Canary Islands Executive signed a collaboration agreement with the company in August of this year to improve the qualification of its personnel within the framework of the "renovation and tourist modernization" of the Canary Islands.

In addition, it requests that the money obtained be returned to the public coffers.
As the association has pointed out in the aforementioned letter, the Arrecife Prosecutor's Office requested an extension to extend the six months it initially had to act on the complaint.
