A woman on trial for introducing 200 grams of cocaine at César Manrique airport

The Prosecutor's Office is asking for L.F.A.M. five and a half years in prison, disqualification from passive suffrage for the same time and a fine of almost 60,000 euros

The First Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try a woman accused of a crime against public health next Tuesday, March 28. The Prosecutor's Office has requested five years and six months in prison for the passenger for allegedly introducing drugs in Lanzarote.

The events occurred on December 22, according to the Prosecutor's Office report, the clock marked 08.45 when L.F.A.M arrived at terminal one of the César Manrique Airport in Lanzarote on a Ryanair flight from Madrid. Inside her bag she was carrying a package with 206 grams of cocaine.

According to the criteria of quantity and quality, "in the illicit market to which it was destined" it would have reached the value of 19,851 euros, as stated in the indictment presented by the Public Prosecutor.

The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested for the accused, in addition to the prison sentence, the disqualification of passive suffrage during the years of imprisonment and a fine of 59,555 euros. The woman, who has no criminal record, has been in provisional prison since December 23.
