Arrested for drug trafficking at Lanzarote airport

National Police agents in Lanzarote have arrested two men and a woman aged 75, 40 and 38 respectively, all of them with police records, as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking crime.

The investigation began in one of the periodic controls that the Police usually carry out on hot flights (flights used as a habitual route by "mules" who try to introduce drugs) upon arrival at the César Manrique airport in Lanzarote.

In one of them, coming from Madrid and this in turn from the Dominican Republic, the investigators identified a 75-year-old man who aroused their suspicions. The police investigations made it possible to verify that he was transporting cocaine hidden inside two speakers that were in his luggage. A total of 13.280 Kilograms of cocaine.

In addition to the person arrested at the Airport facilities, the police officers proceeded to arrest a man and a woman, 40 and 38 years old respectively, with police records, as those responsible for receiving the seized drugs. This is how a criminal organization that introduced drugs to the island of Lanzarote from the Dominican Republic was dismantled.

In the police operation, 13.280 kilograms of cocaine, three mobile phones and 1,000 euros in cash were seized.

The three detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered the immediate imprisonment of all of them.

This is the twelfth "mule" arrested by agents of the National Police at the César Manrique airport in Lanzarote.
